![]() ![]() I just lost the opportunity to purchase what looked like a pretty nice set of jugs & pistons from a 440 on ebay - But, fortunately, those things reappear with time. To eliminate the head gasket leak, an external oil. ![]() The original 400 Kawasaki was prone to leak oil both from the head gasket and the rocker arm covers. It's nice to report that all the changes are improvements. ![]() What I'm hoping for is someone here who has run into a similar situation and knows with absolute certainty that the kz440 is indeed an over-bored kz400 and that the chain tensioner for the 440 head will work with the cam chain on the 400.Īlso, Im figuring that I will either need to rejet the stock 400 carbs or use 440 carbs, if the spacing's not the same on the 440 head. Basically.what I want to know is if I can use a head gasket from a 1976 model For 1978 the KZ400 engine has been changed slightly. The problem I'm seeking to avoid is finding out that some obvious parts are a match, and others may not be (wrist pins etc) - There's another forum I've posted on which mentioned the oil line existing on the kz440 but not the kz400 - whereas, this kz400 has the external oil line running from the case to the head. Thanks for the reply! Thats a great lead (the microfiche catalogs) - I was looking on bikebandit as well. ![]()
